A Berlin native, Paul works as a cinematographer and documentary director. His cinematography has been has been presented at Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin, Kunsthalle Basel and Toronto International Film Festival. Films he directed were screened by the NYTimes and at the Julia Stoschek Foundation. Trained as an architect and photographer in New York, he went on to study at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, where he graduated in 2025. Living across Europe, the United States and in Southern Africa, his work draws upon his multicultural sensitivities and varied perspectives.
Collaborating with an eclectic mix of directors and visual artists, Paul often marries fictional and documentary approaches and frequently takes on experimental projects and artist films. He is driven by thorough research, a fundamental fascination for the people around him and a visual curiosity for the world at large. Ultimately, Paul brings an aspirational approach to filmmaking, believing that in the daily flood of images, the ones that stand out are the ones recorded with care.
